Alipay is one of the most popular digital payment platforms in China and is operated by Ant Group, an affiliate of Alibaba Group. It was founded in 2004 as a payment part of Taobao, Alibaba's online retail platform. With the development of time, Alipay gradually expanded its service scope and became a widely used mobile and online payment platform, supporting users to conduct person-to-person transfer, online shopping, payment, top-up and other payment activities.

What is Alipay?

Users with a Chinese ID and bank account can use Alipay to make payments online and in person at various merchants outside of China as they travel for leisure, business, or study.

Foreign visitors to China can connect their credit card to take advantage of Alipay’s widespread acceptance by tens of millions of merchants across the country. Alipay is not designed or intended for use by foreign users in their home country or anywhere outside of China.

With the users' permission this app can connect to Health [HealthKit] to enable users to participate in walkathons and make donations via the "sports" service. This feature is designed for use by Chinese users in China. It is not necessary to enable this feature to make payments.
