European Championship Notes

The European Football Championship 2024, commonly known as UEFA Euro 2024 (Euro 2024), is the 17th quadrennial European football Championship, organized by UEFA. Hosts Germany and 23 other teams will compete for the title this summer.

Starting on June 14 and continuing until July 15, 51 matches were played, 36 of them in the group stage, and then 16 teams advanced to the knockout stage. Although only one team will lift the Delaunay Cup at the end of the day, each team will compete for a huge prize throughout the European Cup. Following approval by the UEFA Executive Committee last December, the allocation for teams participating in Euro 2024 has been set at 331 million euros, the same as for Euro 2020. The 24 nations that successfully qualify for Euro 2024 will receive €9.25 million before kick-off. Each team that wins the group stage will receive a match prize of 1 million euros, a draw will receive a match prize of 500,000 euros, and a defeat will not receive a prize. Therefore, if a country fails to win all three group games, they can earn at least 9.25 million euros. Each country that advances to the last 16 will receive €1.5 million, and the prize for further progress increases with each round. The team that reaches the quarter-finals will receive €2.5 million, the team that reaches the semi-finals will receive €4 million, while the Euro 2024 winner will receive €8 million and the runner-up will receive €5 million. If a country wins the tournament outright, the maximum amount that can be earned from Euro 2024 is 28.25 million euros.
