November 13, 2024
The gaming authority of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and fast-growing casino operator, Wind Creek Hospitality, announced that the casino at Wind Creek Chicago Southland will open its doors for visitors on Monday, November 11, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m.
Wind Creek Chicago Southland reaches milestone
The opening of the casino marks an important part of the project.
Ultimately, the complete integrated resort with all of its amenities is expected to be completed in the spring of next year and the opening of the casino represents a milestone moment in that process.
Overall, Wind Creek Chicago Southland will help create more than 1,000 full-time jobs.
There are going to be a range of different available positions, including in IT, tech support, as well as hospitality jobs such as housekeeping, gaming attendants, security and other service roles.
The project itself isn't only going to help by generating tax revenue from its gaming and hospitality operations but will serve as an economic stimulus for the entire region.
East Hazel Crest and Homewood are only a couple of the communities that will immediately benefit from Wind Creek Chicago Southland upon the completion of the venue.
Local communities will benefit from the massive project
Stephanie Bryan, Poarch Creek Indians' Tribal Chair and CEO, shared her excitement in a press release.
"Wind Creek Chicago Southland is more than a casino – it's a community-driven destination," she revealed.
Finally, Bryan pointed out: "The Tribe and Wind Creek will continue to prioritize the Villages of Homewood and East Hazel Crest as we are committed to uplifting our neighbors."
Jay Dorris, Wind Creek Hospitality's President and CEO, shared the positive vibe.
He explained that the opening of the venue reaffirms the company's goals to positively impact local communities.
Dorris added: "We're committed to create opportunities that support the region, offer competitive benefits for Team Members, and further strengthen the vibrant Southland community."
The opening follows a mandatory test completed by the gambling regulator in Illinois, the Illinois Gaming Board.
Last week, on November 6 and November 7, the Board visited the casino and conducted tests.
The casino floor offers an impressive 70,000 square feet, delivering 56 table games, as well as 1,400 slot machines.
High-rollers are in for a treat thanks to high-limit slot areas and a designated high-limit table games salon.
Further gaming amenities include a sportsbook, a poker room and 4 "Hidden Gems" that seek to deliver unrivaled entertainment to the visitors of the casino.
Besides the gaming floor, the venue will offer luxury hotel accommodation, a spa and a variety of dining outlets, ensuring supreme experiences for visitors of the much-anticipated location.
